History:   Ginji's earliest memory is of a stormy night when he was a young boy (probably around six). He woke up in a dingy room and cried until he was found and cared for by a man named Teshimine. Teshimine came out of the darkness and asked the little boy’s name, then undertook the task of raising him. Ginji was a very emotional child; he cried a lot and over everything. This only changed once he made some good friends. These were the friends that saw the beginnings of the great passion that Ginji has for protecting people. They were drawn to his kind nature and also his determination to make everything more comfortable for them. As a child he often told people that they would one day be able to leave Mugenjou if they wanted to, despite the fact that this was actually very unlikely.

Living in the slums of Lower Town was a tough life but Ginji and Teshimine survived. They were constantly under attack of the gangs in Lower Town and the monstrous people from the Beltline. Usually Teshimine joined the fight against Beltliners to protect Ginji and Ginji would watch and wait with the other children. After the attacks they would have to find out who had died. One day, a group of Beltliners came into Lower Town and began massacring people. In the attack Ginji witnessed the death of his good friend and as a result an electrical power overtook him. Something in his mind and body snapped and this was the first appearance of the powers that would guide Ginji's life and the alter personality that everyone would come to fear. He killed the attacking Beltliners in a matter a split-second (something grown men had never been able to accomplish). This attack was the first time anyone saw Ginji’s alter-ego, it is this moment when he first developed his personality disorder.

Years passed, and Ginji grew used to having his power and his insanity. People began to fear him and respect him and soon he was able to form a gang called Volts. They ruled over the slums and were the first real police force that made sure order was maintained in the town. He was supported by four kings (Shido, Kazuki, MakubeX and Masaki) and together they made up some of the most feared people in the whole of Lower Town. They also created a set of basic laws that finally gave the place some a kind of safety. Despite their tyranny, many people in Lower Town looked up to Ginji and his Kings as heroes. They symbolized hope that many people had not had before as well as the idea that someone cared about their well-being and could protect them from the monsters upstairs. It was also during the height of the Volts era that Teshimine walked out of Ginji’s life.

Then one day a man named Mido Ban came into the territory that Ginji ruled and the two of them ended up in a huge fight. No one knows exactly who won the fight, but it resulted in a huge crater in the ground of Lower Town and Ban suggesting that Ginji leave Mugenjou. Ginji had to process the idea of just leaving the place, but there was a lot at stake. At the end of their fight, when Ginji had returned to his rightful mindset, he told Ban his true feelings, that he was afraid of destroying the very Tower that held all of his friends. That is why, in the end, he made the choice to leave with the stranger.

Shortly after they left Mugenjou, the pair was implored by a mysterious man to take on the name "Getbackers" and become a recovery service. They took on the job and the task of "putting a puzzle together without seeing the picture". The result of their teaming up has been a complete change in both of them. Together they take part in a lot of different jobs and adventures and are close friends. Ginji's not sure where he would have been without Ban, but he knows he would have been a lot less happy.

Abilities & Physical Abnormalities:
(If your character has anything that would be considered out of the norm - please be succinct.)
When transformed into Raitei, Ginji glows with a brilliant light and has bolts of electricity (even orbs of plasma at times) flowing around him.  He received the title "Raitei" (literally, "Thunder Emperor") because of his ability to control electricity. This control is absolute and grants him several unique abilities such as amazing regenerative power as well as the ability to become a human magnet and battery. He's able to call lightning from the sky (even without the presence of clouds) to strike his foes, as well as use bolts as projectiles from his hands (or any other part of his body).

Normally, he also possess this electricity control, though it's on a very different scale. He's able to suck the energy from things such as power lines, batteries and other sources to fuel his own abilities. This works both ways, as he's also able to  power small appliances and other such things like lights. One way he commonly employs this is by charging his fists with electricity to add power to his punches. He also uses it to shock opponents, though it's never enough to do anything but knock them unconscious (only because he chooses not to hurt them).

Personality:   Ginji is sweet, kind, compassionate, trusting, naive and a little childish. He cares about people and the pain they have to go through. He trusts people automatically unless they do something to make him dislike them. He complains about simple things. He comes across as nothing special, just a cute, innocent kid fighting for all the right reasons. He has no fear of expressing emotion and is very friendly and loveable. He is also a natural leader without realizing it. His words can stir people to action, but all he is doing is saying what he really thinks and feels. He's a people person, well liked by others, and he possesses a kind heart. His friends trust him and believe in him. He's loyal and kind and hates injustice. It was these latter personality traits that were the driving force behind the creation of his gang. It’s the reason people became so loyal to him.

Underneath this kind person is a power so strong that it was able to rule over the slums of Mugenjou with an electric fist. This power is his second personality. Raitei is cold, merciless and mostly emotionless (it's safe to say the only real emotion he feels is anger). He has no qualms about killing people and is basically the opposite of Ginji. Raitei is an arrogant force who wants only to destroy anything that is in his way. He has his own way of thinking and speaking (when he finds a reason to speak at all that is) that is very different from Ginji. He comes out when Ginji needs him (when there's a real threat to his life or the lives of people that he cares about) but this is a very bad thing.

For one, Raitei has no alliances or loyalty. He is neither bad nor good. He simply is power, uncontrolled power. For two, Ginji's mental state slowly falls apart while Raitei--the more he maintains that form, the longer he'll stay Raitei. The innocent Ginji also must face the horrible things Raitei has done the second they switch back. The guilt is almost too much for him to handle and the major cause of most of Ginji’s angst. Despite this Raitei’s major point is to protect Ginji. He appears when Ginji is suffering and tries to make whatever is making Ginji suffer disappear. It’s a horrible cycle though as the means Raitei uses to do that usually cause Ginji more pain.

Ginji, for the most part, tries to keep his "other self" under control and lives life the best he can. He's really affectionate with the people he's close to. He's clingy, he hugs frequently. Most of his friends are old members of his old gang or people that he's met through being a Getbacker with Ban. His best friend is Ban, of course, and he shows no sign of even realizing Ban has personal space. To Ginji, it’s much better to be open and happy and friendly than to worry about the things that hurt him, though he is still often haunted by his memories of his horrific past, Ban usually finds a way to snap him out of it.

What are your plans for the character in-game?  Seeing as Ginji has never had any sort of formal education he would really relish in the opportunity for schooling and having the 'normal' (for the most part) sort of life that he was never able to have as the leader of the Volts. Considering his background as a GetBacker, he'll probably involve himself in various missions and the like as that was still a big portion of his life.

(As this questionnaire is entirely IC, your character is free to lie.)
What do you prefer to be known as?  Ginji! Oh, but girls are free to call me Ginji-kun!

How old are you? Nineteen years old!

Do you have any history in combat?  I guess I could say I'm a...a brawler, right? I fight with my fists and legs, mostly.

If so, have you ever killed?  ...Is it okay if I don't answer this part? Thanks!

i) How do you feel when you get involved in some project that calls for immediate and rapid activity?
I feel great and excited! I'm always one of the first to jump into action--sometimes a little too eager.

ii) Do you organize and initiate leisure activities?  Of course! Like going to the beach, oh..and eating? Eating is a favorite though I don't do it as much as I'd like.

iii) What role do you take when working in a group?  Uhm...oh, I know! I take on the role of the motivator! And I also serve as a really good sidekick.

iv) How talkative are you around other people?

I wouldn't say overly, but I think Ban would give a different answer. And it depends on who the person is, too. I mean, if you don't talk to someone who's new they might not feel they have any friends and they'll feel left out. That would be kind of sad, don't you think? And even those people who aren't very nice could use someone to talk to. Maybe they're just misunderstood? Or they have a lot on their mind. Or they just want to be left alone, in which case you wouldn't really want to bother them, would you? Oh...but then sometimes it's a ploy and they really DO want to be bothered, even if they act otherwise. Sometimes it's worth it and other times you're best to just step back in case they get violent. Other than that, there's also the shy sort of people-- I'm really talkative with them, and....

v) What three things would you want to have with you on a desert island? State your reasoning.
Ban, because he's my best friend. A fishing pole so we can catch lots and lots of fish so we'll always have something to eat...and...I guess our car so we can get around easily, right?

vi) Is it important to be liked by a wide range of people?
Um...I think it's important to be liked by people in general. I don't really understand why anyone would want to be disliked? There's little to gain by having a bad attitude, and besides! A smiling face is contagious.

vii) When the odds are against you, is it worth taking a chance?
Absolutely! Sometimes the safest route isn't always the best route.

viii) Do you consider yourself to be an impulsive person?
Hehe...um...just a little? Sometimes I get in over my head when I really want to help out and I...may make promises that are hard to keep.

ix) Would you agree that planning things ahead takes the fun out of life?
There's something people say about spontaneity being the spice of life  and I think it's probably true, but if you plan things to do with friends, how can it not be fun?

x) Do you like surprises?
I love surprises! Is there a surprise waiting for me after this?!

xi) Do you sometimes wonder if there is something wrong with you?
No...? Why would I think that? Wait--IS there something wrong with me? Did someone tell you something? Aiii!! I'm...I'm not going to die, am I?!

xii) Do you consider yourself to be smarter than your superiors, and disagree with their decisions?
I don't consider myself smarter but...if our ideals clash, I won't stand for wrongdoing or people being treated unfairly!

xiii) Lastly, how do you feel about cabbages?
Cabbage stir fry,  tsukemono, cabbage rolls, okonomiyaki...Ah..I think I'm drooling.
